A Hofstra student and acid attack victim is still awaiting justice.

In March of 2021, Hofstra pre-medical student Nafiah Ikram was attacked in front of her home when a stranger threw acid on her face, resulting in severe burns and disfigurement. The Clocktower reported this story when it happened.

Ikram's attacker has still not been identified, and investigations are ongoing. On the one year anniversary of the attack, her family spoke out about their frustrations with the Nassau County Police Department’s handling of the case. You can donate to her family’s GoFundMe page here.

Office hours are now open with the Division of Student Affairs and Hofstra president.

An email announced office hours will open up with Hofstra's top officials. These appointments are for any student who wants to talk about their experiences, ask questions and provide feedback on student life at Hofstra.

Appointments with President Poser will be on a first-come basis, and the deadline to sign up is on Tuesday, March 29. To secure a slot, fill out the spreadsheet attached to the email sent out.

W. Houston Dougharty, the vice president of Student Affairs, will also be holding office hours on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in Room 200 of Phillips Hall. Michelle Van-Ess Grant, the dean of students and assistant vice president for Student Affairs, will be holding office hours on Thursdays from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. in Room 240 of the David S. Mack Student Center.

Hofstra hosted the first in-person career fair since the start of the pandemic.

On Wednesday, March 16, Hofstra opened their doors for the first time in years for the annual career and internship fair. The event was featured on Fox 5 News, which also reported Hofstra is the only university in the metro region doing an in-person job fair this spring.

Students gathered at the Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex to meet with dozens of potential employers for students of any major. More than 400 Hofstra students signed up for this event, and over 100 employers were present.

Hofstra Student Life is collecting items for Ukraine.

Donation boxes will be collected weekly from drop boxes around campus and delivered to the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church and St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Uniondale. Calls for donations have sought household supplies and medical items. You can also contribute virtually through this Amazon wish list.
