1. Overnight RSRs will earn a higher wage

The Resident Safety department announced that resident safety representatives who work between the hours of midnight to 8 a.m. will now earn $13 an hour beginning Monday, Oct. 31. All the RSRs had their pay increased to $12 at the beginning of the fall semester with no difference in the wages earned by daytime and overnight RSRs. The previous pay rate for RSRs varied from $9.50 to $11. The change was announced at a mid-semester training session for all representatives.

2. Midterm elections are coming on Tuesday, Nov. 8

As midterm elections grow closer, the emphasis on the importance of voting has not withered. Midterm elections can determine the majority in the House of Representatives and Senate, which influences the country’s political agenda for the remainder of the presidency. For New York state, both early and in-person voting is accepted. Hofstra Votes will be tabling in the student center on Wednesday, Nov. 2, during common hour (1 p.m. to 2:25 p.m.). Students can go to the table to learn how to register. Voters can also register online if they have not yet done so. In-person voting, both early and on election day, is open from Saturday, Oct. 29, through Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polling sites can be found online.

3. Registrations open for spring classes

Registrations have opened for juniors and seniors for the spring 2023 semester, and freshmen and sophomores will be able to register in the upcoming week.

Seniors: Sunday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m.

Juniors: Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 1:30 p.m.

Sophomores: Sunday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m.

Freshmen: Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1:30 p.m.
